Dear Customer,
The European Battery Regulation requires battery manufacturers of portable batteries of general use to
apply the CE mark to the battery label, of if that is not possible due to size constraints, to the packaging,
by 17 August 2024. Specifically, the Regulation states:
CE marking shall be affixed visibly, legibly and indelibly to the battery. Where that is not possible or not
warranted due to the nature of the battery, it shall be affixed to the packaging and to the documents
accompanying the battery.
Energizer will be compliant with this requirement in one of several ways. First, many Energizer batteries
will have the CE mark imprinted on the label on or before 17 August 2024. In situations where that is not
possible due to size constraints, Energizer batteries will be accompanied by a CE declaration in external
packaging containing the CE mark.
In August 2024, Energizer’s use of the CE mark will be to declare conformity with Article 6 of the Battery
Regulation, Restrictions on Substances. Specifically, Energizer will confirm that its batteries satisfy the
Battery Regulations restrictions regarding Mercury, Cadmium, and Lead. Other Articles to which
manufacturers must conform by August 2024 that require the use of the CE mark do not apply to portable
batteries of general use.
